Context: the 1980 Camaro
The second-generation Camaro debuted in February 1970 and was built until 1981. From 1978 on, the model got front and rear ends with body-colored bumpers, the look that defines the last years of the generation — including the 1980.
The RS (Rally Sport) badge has been part of the Camaro since 1967 and always meant a sportier appearance package. At the turn of the 1980s the Camaro lived with the emissions and fuel economy demands of the time, offering V6 and V8 engines depending on version and market.
